Winter storm watch posted for southeast Oklahoma

OKLAHOMA CITY (Profile Facts) - A winter storm watch has been issued for the southeastern tip of Oklahoma in advance of 2 storm systems that could dump snow on parts of the state and unleash the coldest air of the season.

The National Weather Service says the watch will be in effect Sunday for McCurtain County, where up to four inches of snow could accumulate. Cold rain or a rain-snow mix is possible elsewhere.

Forecasters say a stronger system on Monday may bring one to three inches of snow to northern Oklahoma.

In Oklahoma City, crews began pre-treating bridges and overpasses Friday with salt brine solution.

Bitterly cold temperatures are likely, with daytime highs only reaching the 20s and 30s and lows bottoming out in the single digits and teens.
