KARACHI:Profile Facts- Various parts of country including Karachi and Quetta were jolted by earthquake of mammoth 6.3 magnitude on Richter Scale after midnight towards Wednesday morning.
According to Pakistan Meteorological Department, the epicenter of the quake was found to be in Balochistan area of Kharan.
According to US Geological survey, the magnitude of the earthquake was 7.4 on Richter Scale, saying the epicenter is 55 kilometers to the west of Dalbadin in Balochistan.
The areas which felt severe jolts included Karachi, Bahawalpur, Thatta, Sukkar, Shikarpur, Badin, Hyderabad, Quetta, Naseerabad, Kharan, Lahore, Sargodha and Dera Ghazi Khan.
There are no initial reports of damage or casualties from any part of the country thus far. There are reports regarding tsunami in Indian Ocean as well.
Panicked people in large number rushed out of their houses along with children and are currently staying out in plains in Nazimabad, Jauhar More and Al-Karam.
Following the immense tremors, City Government made its entire staff on alert along with their machinery
